NEWEST INCENTIVE TO REWARD FANS OF THE GREAT WHITE WAY

New York, New York (March 27, 2003) – Loyal theatergoers of the Great White Way are in for a host of special rewards the week of April 1–7 with “Greetings From Broadway”, a promotion that features sweepstakes, free mini-concerts, and great deals for restaurants, hotels and parking, and Broadway Open House Tour—The Official Theatre Tour.

According to Jan Svendsen of the League of American Theatres and Producers, Inc., “Greetings From Broadway is a way for the theatre community to show their appreciation to theatregoers and to help jumpstart the spring theatre season.”

To do that, the League (the trade organization for Broadway) has teamed up with several marketing partners to create great rewards for anyone who loves theatre. They are as follows:

Free Activities: ­ Macy’s Herald Square windows (Broadway side) feature the “Razzle Dazzle” of the Great White Way from March 27-April 7. Images, memorabilia, costumes and props from showstoppers – Chicago, Enchanted April, Man of La Mancha, Thoroughly Modern Millie and Urban Cowboy.

­ Mini-performances of Broadway’s hot musicals from April 1-4.

- The Greetings from Broadway Sweepstakes features:

­ Grand Prize: Spring Weekend on Broadway — includes two tickets to a Friday and Saturday night Broadway performance, two nights at the New York Marriott Marquis, dinner for two on both nights at area restaurants, two flight vouchers from Continental Airlines, a Visa Gift Card, and a Michelob Ultra Trek mountain bike.

­ First Prize: A Day on The Great White Way — includes Broadway Open House—The Official Theatre Tour for four people, four show tickets and a shopping spree at Macy’s Herald Square.

­ Second prize: Show tickets to Broadways hottest shows.

To help celebrate Greetings From Broadway, the League of American Theatres and Producers has also arranged for one of the Great White Way’s most enthusiastic fans—The View’s Meredith Viera—to make her Broadway debut in the hit show Thoroughly Modern Millie. According to Pattie Armetta-Haubner, the League’s spokesperson, “Viera’s debut was arranged during the week to give the people across the country a chance to experience performing on a Broadway stage through the eyes of a genuine Broadway fan. Ms. Viera’s debut will be chronicled on The View the week of March 31. Footage of her performance, costume fittings and rehearsals will be highlighted on the show (Date TBD).”
